Golf G60 Brakes onto '77 Mk1

Post by G60MAT »

Been offered a full set (F&R) of good condition Mk2 Golf G60 brakes for the Mk1, obviously there 4x100 and I’ll be running 15” or 16” wheels so will be fine for clearance.

Are they simple bolt on or do I need spacers?
Also best hoses to connect back to the car?

:help:

You'll be needing some spacers from the caddy forum

Got that set up on my MK2, I just used the original hoses.

You will need just caddies adaptors to make the calipers bolt on tho

Yes - Scirocco 16v cables should still be available from GSF, last I heard.

If you're doing front AND rear you will need spacers (as mentioned) for the front brakes, 16v Scirocco hand brake cables (as mentioned) but also the rear stub axles from the Corrado/mk2 Golf as these have the provision for mounting the rear caliper carriers.

Also for the rears you will need mk2 Golf/Corrado flexible hoses. C&R do a Goodridge stainless kit containing 6 hoses - especially for rear disc conversions on a mk1 Golf/Scirocco.

You'll also need some method of balancing the front and rear braking force.
