Does any one know if a Mk3 golf weighted gear shift rod will fit? I've read they fit a Mk2 Golf but wanted to know if anyone has tried fitting one?
Ive been to the local scrap yard and they have a Mk3 golf GTi with one still on there.
looks like this.

Given that mk1 golfs have the same linkage then I assume this is relevant.

Re: Golf Mk3 weighted rod
So it is a bit shorter then, when I was looking in the scrap yard the gear linkage on the mk3 golf looked similar at the gear box end but a different set up at the gear stick end going into the engine bay.
The mk3 golf gti I'd seen had only done 120,000 miles had all the mots and receipts in the car and was taxed till the end of this month, fail its last mot on suspension wear and rust to the sills. Most of the car was intact. it was on the pile of cars with two holes in the windscreen where they lifted it up on fork lift. I had the no.99 relay out of it. programable intermentant wipers for me....
