bury my foot then it dies
Evening boys and girls another problem for you all to have a think about the car starts fine runs ok until I bury my foot into the carpet then it losses all power and dies ive replaced the ignition amplifier, coil cylinder, plugs leads, dizzy cap, rota arm also checked all full lines and made sure there were clear also the fuel filter is fine the tank is clean.
When it dies the seems to missfire then it back fires like bitch and stalls its self and wont start again for at least 10mins then it starts all over again.
Any help will be great
Almost forgot its a 1.8 8v with a webber and k&n

You might need to restrick the fuel return pipe. Have a read of this thread as it seems to be a common problem with a webber carb.

Re: bury my foot then it dies
So you are saying it starting doing this after you replaced the parts?
If so could be a problem with the new bits, If you still have the old dissy cap try that, Ive had a new one before which had a hair line crack in it and caused all sorts of problems.

I still think its over fueling as you said it back fires but I could be wrong, have you checked timing and the vacum advance hoses for air leaks, the bits of breaded hoses at then ends of the plastic solid pipes can look ok on the out side but the rubber rots away underneath?

Re: bury my foot then it dies
They were all replaced when I did the carb 8months ago with blue silicone ones as for over fueling I would agree with you but its ran fine for that long until yesterday as for timing ive never touched it

Check the rubber flange between the carb and the inlet manifold isn't split. Start the car and give the airbox a wiggle. If it changes note or worse comes away that's probably your problem.
Re: bury my foot then it dies
Thats the first job tomorrow while I play with that im going to clean the carb down aswell

Re: bury my foot then it dies
Gsf do them but they aren't up to much. I'd get a VW one but it is a bit more expensive.
