Mk1 RHD Speedo Cable?

Post by Tee3 »

Etka shows the Golf part as 200mm shorter, does anyone know if they can be rerouted on a fuel injected Mk1 to fit?

I've looked at having speedy cables make one, but they dont think they can re-use the gearbox end of mine and its not a part they have.

I can do it another way with a new mk2 cable and have the speedo end swapped for an early one, but if the Golf one will fit thats easier and probably cheaper

Just for future reference... there doesnt seem to be an off the shelf Mk1 Speedo cable.
Speedycables can make one, but they cannot source the gearbox end.

So... I Supplied them with a GEMO Mk2 Scirocco cable and they shortened it and fitted a new speedo end.
Gemo made the cables for VW and you can buy a mk2 RHD cable from GSF.

So effectively an OEM quality cable, and the part that Speedycables modified looks factory.

I brought mine new from GSF about 6 years ago it is a GEMO cable, its good to know if it does break you have found a solution to the problem. Top work! :good:
