Had a problem, sharing answer - lost wipers/heater blower

Thought I'd flag this one up - I lost the heater blower and the wipers/washers this week on the GTL.

Now, I'm far from being a spark - went through all the usual checks re fuses, specific wiper relays etc etc.

Still had a glovebox light and the lights were working - signs of other problems...........and then thought, check the bloody internet and of course the legend that is rubjonny had dealt with same issue across a number fo vw/audi forums.

Culprit = the x contact relay that has #17 on it, p/n 171 937 503a. It's positioned second from the left on the lower row of relays on a Mk2 fusebox.

It clicks on start up, mine didn't but a cross reference with the one from the BRM confirmed the diagnosis.

Luckily I had a spare fusebox lying around with another spare so job done.

Phew.
