hay all, just spent hours chanigng over a gearbox and fitting new seals and clutch, everything went back on ok eventually, took it for a spin and realised the speedo wasnt working so i went n got my gf from work and everything was fine, about 50 mile journey, got back and put it in reverse and now it's stuck there, i removed the speedo cable and noticed the cog at the end has been swallowed by the gearbox :S have tried brut force and dissconnected the linkages and tried to move the arm on the box but no joy,
any1 got any suggestions?
i presume the plastic cog off the speedo cable has made it jam into gear or summat?
cheers
cel

Re: ahhhhh effing gearboxes
The speedo cog will just get munched up, but tbh it's worth draining the fluid out of the box as little bits could cause some damage to seals.
Have you disconnected the clutch cable, rocked the car with some one in it pulling it out of reverse ?
