Help whit zenith carburetor issue! (mk1)

Post by Tommy F »

Hey!

I wonder if anyone can help me a litle bit :)
I`m installate a zenith carburetor on a scirocco TS 1976 as I working on and I
have problem to track where the electrical cabels and vacuum hoses will be connected to it?
Is there anyone who can help me with this it would be great! :)

No 1 on the pic = Ground (-)?
No 2 on the pic = Fuel in, but where will the return hose goes?
No 3 on the pic = Ground (-)? Power (+)?

And is it only those that will be connected to this carburetor or is it more connections that I missed?

Is there not a sticker on the slam panel showing where the vacuum hoses go?

I think no 2 is the solenoid that cuts the fuel off when you turn the engine off? Not sure though. On my Mk1 there is a black wire coming from the wiring loom near the coil going to something like that, the only problem is Ive a 1978 GLS which was running a Zenith carb but now running on a webber.

Sure :)
No 1 in the picture is the solenoid valve, it will be connected on voltage and its going to click when you turning on the ignition. For it to work its also requires that the carburetor is grounded properly.

No 2 is fuel line in.

No 3 is automatic choke and it works on both electricity and vacuum, mine have only electricity on it.
