immobiliser removal

Hello

I'm look for some advice, i have recently bought a mk2 scirocco, which basically need a good sort out, Mot then should be back on the road. The problem is that it has had an after market immobiliser fitted that i dont think i really want, so far it just seems to be causing me grief as i'm not really sure when its alarmed or not because the door locks don't work and will also go off when im working on the car .

Can anyone give me some advice on getting it off, i don't really have any experience in car electrics so i don't want to dive in cutting wires. what does it attach to? what not to touch when getting it off? just general guidance really. its a 1992 gt2

Hi,
You would have to trace all the wires from the main part of the alarm to find out where they enter the cars wiring loom then remove them and re-join the original wiring back together. Unfortunately it wont be a case of just unplugging it.

where abouts are you? if you're near swindon, then bring it round and i'll give you a hand to remove it. done quite a few over the years

i had a feeling the it would not be just a straight forward unplug with the amount of wires coming out of it, if the weather stays sunny ill give it ago this weekend. Thanks for the offer but im in east sussex and at the moment the car isn't road worthy.

i've had to remove a few at the roadside over the years for punters. always makes me chuckle how worried they look at how quick you can get past most modern aftermarket immobilisers.

you will probably find that most of the wires coming from it will be black. this is to make the job of getting past it more tricky. i'll pm you a rough guide to what you'll be looking at. probably not the best idea to put it on a public forum

Wow thanks i really appreciate it. i have just had a read though it and it seems straight forward enough, just one wire at time i guess :D . ill probably have a crack at it tommorow or sunday and ill post up on here how it goes or if i come into any problems.
