I'd assume it's from all the rain we've had lately!

Make sure the plenum is clear and check its not finding its way in from on top of the fuse box. Could also be the screen seal.

Leaking bottle of water in the boot? Happened to me once, confused the hell out of me for 2-3 days. Very embarrassing.

You probably have done already but if not check the condition of all the grommets in the bulkhead and as yours is a GTX and comes with a sunroof as standard, check the drain holes in the roof are not blocked.
This can be done by opening the roof and pouring water into the holes and watch to see it come out, the drains come out in the archs, front and rear. If they are blocked then you can use a length of hose that is smaller in diameter (about 4mm if I can remember rightly!) and feed it down.

Best to dry it out thoroughly, if it is ever dry take all the seats and carpet and mop up the water, the underfloor sound deadening will stink like a marsh, worth replacing once you have cured the leak!

You would know if it is the matrix as it would smell of coolant and also the coolant level would drop.
