going to pick up the cables from my mate in GSF tomorrow morning.done it on the bug so i guess it cant be that different (hopefully!)haven't spoken to anyone but i assume everyone has smelly work to go to.i've left the car in gear just now,its just remembering i've left it in gear and not ramming my garage door!

I had a similar issue with my handbrake suddenly going very tight.. it turned out i hadn't seated one side properly in the back-plate when putting the rear drums back together!

Mine was tight to begin with,then worked fine,then didnt work at all,and is now working again.got new cables anyway.who knows what will go wrong next!

Hello gayle, I see the brake drama continues
I've been driving my car with the stereo turned up so I don't hear any more noises, just not had time to get near it or for that matter on here.
The brakes especially fitting handbrake cables is something I have never done
I know Sandy is about and I could lend a hand, I'm no expert. There are guides on the likes of Mk1 Golf owners forum. I think Ben might be back on the scene the turn of the month, not even spoken to anyone since the coil over fitting. I am about at the farm doing tiling for my folks on Wed,fri then will be pretty free the following week. We could maybe organise something that week, usual clinic style. I'll maybe text Ben and speak to Sandy.

May bring speedo as mine is making "funny" noises.
If you want company on the way down I could arrange to meet you.
