Heater Vents

Post by Jason »

Hi all, new to the SR forum so this is my first post. I have a 1983 1.8GTi both of my side heater vents are only blowing cold even when the setting is hot and the centre vents are blowing hot, does anyone know if this is a common fault or know of a fix.

Also just had an issue with blower, headlights and wipers were only working when full beam was on, I have seen this a few times on the forum with a few different options for a fix, mine turned out to be the ignition switch which was easy to replace and cheap/readily available to buy.

That's how the air system works - cold face, warm feet.

I can’t believe it.... I had a 1982 Rocco in the late 80’s and don’t remember the side vents only blowing cold... my memory is obviously looking thru rose tinted glasses..ha ha .

Thanks for responding at least I don’t have to rip the dash out. Glad its summer....

If it came with the Owners Handbook, it tells you in there.

The question about the side vents gets asked a lot of times, even Mk1 Golfs have the same set up.
You’ve just got to close the side vents in the autumn/winter and when you open them in the spring you get a face full of dried out leaves. :-D
