I thought I'd give these a punt as a temporary fix in the mk1

but I am very pleasantly surprised - at their general performance but also for the amount of bass they produce. Now, I do have a "high end" head unit but I think most aftermarket jobbies now pump out the same 50W per channel so the difference should be noticeable whatever you have.
I've had pretty much every brand of 6x4 in mk1s and mk2s and I have to say these are the best - especially given they are only £25. Next day delivery for Prime account holders is a bonus too.
Oh, and they come with very thick gauge speaker wire as well (although no connectors?!)
Great, cheap 6x4 speakers from Amazon

I had these in my doors, but couldn't fit the cover on and they looked a bit garish for me in there so moved them to the back out of site.

Yeah, you do need that factory "veil" that sits in the grille to cover the bright white. They've fitted ok in my mk1.

easy way to get around that problem is to fit the speaker behind the door pocket which unfortunately means removing the door card

had a set of these, they all stopped working within a couple of months with crap integral wiring (the ones that go from the main cone to the tweeter), this happened on all 4 speakers, definitely not a car wiring issue as I have now fitted alpines all round and theyre perfect, and not that much more money tbh, steer clear in my opinion
