I've owned and loved Project Rouge since rescuing it August 2008. It get's a LOT of attention on the road.

General - 1985 GTL, Titian Red with beige velour interior, brown dashboard and door cards. 1781cc EX Engine, 4 + E gearbox - sits at 3k revs at motorway speeds.

Maintained regardless of expense by The Phirm since recommissioning in 2008. Full folder of invoices to go with car.

Recent new filler neck, fuel tank and exhaust plus this month a new VW Cambelt, new crankshaft oil seal, new rear cylinders, front brakes stripped and cleaned up month.

New top mounts plus a full checkover of hubs, bearings Jan 2019.

Features/upgrades - AP Coilovers, Adjustable lower front stress bar, factory spec boot arch liners as per GTX/Storm
Weighted Gear shift, Weber carb/manual choke, Headlamp loom upgrade with relays, Sony Bluetooth Stereo and Pioneer Speakers all working fine

Good points

A reliable, well maintained car mechanically - see list of jobs carried out since I've owned it.

Good interior - some slight fading on top surface of drivers seat back plus tiny cracks around dashboard air vents, replaced the original carpet with a set from a Storm, Original Justmatz floor mats.

Less good

This is not a showcar - I refer to is as my Tesco car in fact.

Slightly scabby around the edges - but nothing that a gentle restoration wouldn't resolve, nothing hidden given no bodykit.
Front valance out of shape - NOS one can be supplied if car sells at a certain price
Small dents on rear panel around number plate recess/under light cluster
A few minor blemishes/dings
Pattern offside front wing
Glass sunroof - fully functioning tilt/removeable, requires yearly dose of http://www.captaintolley.com/ around the hinge bolts, that's all. Slight, non leaky airsqueal at motorway speed

If I get £2,500 or near I will be happy to leave the VERY nice Nardi Votex steering wheel in the car - Otherwise I will add a factory VW steering wheel.

Car will be supplied with G60 style steels - I am retaining the super rare 6.5 x 15 Castellets currently fitted to car - that come with legal tyres.

Brand new orange front indicators will be fitted to car prior to any sale.

So - there you are.

A totally useable example of one of the very rarest non bodykit Mk2 Sciroccos - less than 10 left I believe? - that would make for a perfect retro runabout or is a great basis for a fuller restoration.

Hi, I'm very interested as I've had a gtl before and don't really like the bodykits. Bearing in mind I'll have to come up by train.... When would I be able to have a look at it, please?

She got to go, Mr Funk wants to stick with a Golf and others have failed to follow through with interest.
