Fancy contributing to the club magazine?

Post by GTXTRA »

OK - to assist Ant in the ongoing production of Skyrocket we would welcome articles on the following.
What we're trying to do is build up a forward schedule of content that allows Ant to plan several issues in advance - Skyrocket will then continue to improve and in turn more people will want to sign up as paid members. You get the drift.

Not all the topics need to be allocated, or even written, immediately - this is more about planning.

See what you can come up with?

ICE/Stereo installs

Explaining ICE?

Detailing -
•Interiors
•engine bays
•paintwork
•wheels

Turning a road car into a race car - serial? different contributors? Edmundator!? MikeH?

Headlamp loom - homebrew?

Replacing a clutch

Fitting a Weber

Removing glass safely

Gear linkages?

Cambelt change

Removing and replacing mk2 wing - Jake offered already

Changing coolant

Replacing radiator

Replacing alternator

Full service

Renewing suspension - Jake has offered a how to fit coilovers guide.

Rebushing rear beam

Patching sills

Replacing rear arches

ALSO - Ant will also be approaching people for features on specific cars so look out for emails/pm's!

And anything you think we have missed?

In the next few weeks & months, I'll be having a cage fitted (by Ian Carvell), work done on the suspension, and doing a megasquirt conversion. I'd be happy to do you a write up.

I was going to write up a proper project thread on the forum, but even when I resized my pictures on photobucket, I still couldn't post them, so I gave up.

EDIT: I just found out the sizing issue is fixed - yay!!

I am more than happy to contribute regular articles on the construction of my racer as and when it progresses - not much to write about at present, probably start making progress in the spring/summer when I'll be free every weekend.

As and when I get out on track I can provide race reports etc.

It would be ideal if there were an easy way to upload photos, tried but to no avail :crying:

I'm always game to help and put my knowledge to good use.
I'm trying to keep some photo records of all the work I do on my Scirocco's and I'm also quite handy at writing technical instructions :read:

i'll be doing quite a lot of that stuff to my mk1 over the coming months, although i don't think my workmanship would be up to the sort of standards that you would want and i'm not very good at putting stuff in to words either.

How do you want to work this? I've started posting a project thread (mostly copied from what's already on Club GTI). Do you want something similar for the magazine, or more of a report on the events I've done? I've been taking pictures of the bits and pieces as I go, but they're not brilliant, as they're mostly on my iPhone. Someone who actually has a clue with a camera might get better results.

Personally, I'd be interested to read about either.

anything and everything Scirocco related guys, ownership stories, technical, competitive events, shows and meets, rare parts etc etc. Avoid fan-fiction and suchlike, the membership likes to read about real life experiences with these cars.

I will be in touch shortly with the above about articles and PM a few owners about lining up 'feature' cars of all hues.

:beers:
