So i fitted the vr6 into the rocco. Terrifying lift the car up, 33 inch to the underside of the front so i could roll the engine under!

Its sits pretty close to the ground (about an inch). It does seem like the drivers side sits a bit low though, so i will adjust the mount to i can raise that side as there appears to be plenty of room above the engine. This will straighten the engine and raise the sump around 1.5". The extra weight has also lowered the front a bit, so i will wind the coilovers up gaining another 1/2" or so.

Lots to do, but its in and more or less fits which is exciting.

Yes did spot the trolly jacks... :-D

The engine looks like it's meant to be in there from out of the factory... It's going to sound gorgeous when it's up and running......

Keep the updates coming...

hi. i've been chipped away slowly. the 'bolt in' engine mounts all needed adjustment by an inch or so which is annoying. But they are now all in and engine finally located. It now sits level too. I have clocked the turbo to point the compressor pipe downwards so i can do a hidden pipe set up. The radiator and intercooler are located and just about fit! just! i have started making up brackets so hopefully these will be solid soon and i can then begin to make up intercooler pipework. I'm going to make them from aluminium and get the local welder to weld them for me as i can't tig weld. I think that will be better than lots of joins.
Just waiting on a driveshaft and i can start chopping them to size too.
Clutch hydro m/c is all fitted and steering column back in with a new (s/h) boot which is great. Thats about it really. I will try and get some pics, but i generally only get 30mins on it every few days so progress is slow! and i can't make noise which makes cutting and welding tough going!

so i've been chipping away and i am finally getting pretty close.
Stuff i've done recently, although i will have done loads more!:

engine mounts have all been made up and finished
very large intercooler fitted
custom intercooler pipework, welded by local fabricator
polo g40 alloy radiator
custom coolant lines
ford ranger heater bypass valve (normal rocco one isn't a bypass) with fabricator cable mechanism as normally pneumatic
02j gearstick, box and cables installed with a diesel geek shortshift kit
fuel lines fitted
custom made driveshafts with 100mm inner cv's
1.3 mk2 golf accelerator cable
1.3 mk2 golf speedo cable
intake pipework and cba filter on
relocated battery tray
turbo oil return line to sump
turbo oil feed
dump valve
downpipe made
and some other stuff....

Just starting on stripping back the original loom and wiring in the tails on the one i made months ago for the engine, fit fuel filter where accumulator is and i should be good to turn the key! then finish up exhaust and make screamer pipe and a few other bits like washer bottle and she should be good for an mot ready for next summer!

it would be fair to say i underestimated the work involved in making this engine fit and then made it even harder by turboing it, but it will be awesome when its done!! it is amazingly tight and can't fit a finger between most components!

anyway, pictures say a thousand words. in no particular order....
