Gaskets and o rings
Best place for gaskets guys? Need one for oil filter housing and don't want to pay silly postage costs that classic vw hits you with!

Re: Gaskets and o rings
Is it this type of O ring for the water feed oil cooler?

This gasket for the oil filter housing?

Other option to save money is buy some gasket paper and make your own.
lots of different thickness and sizes on ebay.

Thanks mate the O ring is just one of a few that seems to have perished on this motor! think I need to buy a different sizes set as I am sure I'll need them once I go for the 3rd start up!

Re: Gaskets and o rings
Worth replacing the o ring above the water feed oil cooler as I had one split on me while driving and the mess it left as the oil comes out under pressure, smoke pouring from my car as the oil was burning on the exhaust while driving and I used 4l of engine oil to get the 2 miles home, my drive was covered in oil as was the drive into my village...
You need to replace the O ring while the oil filter is removed and there’s a big nut to undo then you can lower the oil cooler without the need to remove the water pipes to the cooler.

B and B components on eBay is a good place to get stuff as reasonable prices and quick delivery.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/tierod69?_tr ... 7675.l2563
Don’t forget to search Mk1 golf or Mk1 golf cabriolet for parts, Mk1 Golf cabriolets share a lot of parts and there is still a load of cabriolets out there.
Shout out if you are stuck finding anything as over the past 20 odd years of driving my cars I’ve replaced or done most things...
