I have a soft spot for South American VWs. The Gol is V cool in my book, especially the original air-cooled one.

I may have remembered this wrong, but wasn't there a segment on Fifth Gear some years ago about imported cars in Japan being LHD? It's something to do with it being a status symbol. LHD a way of being different and saying "Look at me, I have an imported car".

In my humble opinion, it looks like a GTI rather than a GTX. Maybe it's worth checking the date moulded on the rear of the 'SCIROCCO GTX' badge. If it's later than the date of manufacture of the car, then it's a sure thing that it's been fitted afterwards. As Ed says, wrong tailgate spoiler for a GT...
