Duncan / Nate, thanks very much for the offers. I've managed to get a 2nd hand one sorted but once it is off I might give you a bell because my brother could have it and it would be a shame to bin it.
Cheers

Re: 4 Branch cracked
Nate /Jake thanks for your advice. How much do you reckon it would cost to get it welded at a garage? Unfortunately I don't no anyone personally that can weld. Halfords autocentre said they couldn't do it. If it would cost quite a bit, I might as well get a new raceland one. thanks

4 Branch cracked
Hi All,
My exhaust manifold has cracked. It's a fairly expensive Ashley so would rather get it repaired, is this possible to do? And if not, are them cheaper unit 3 or raceland ones any good? Better still, does anyone have a similar one for sale? MK2 GTX 1.8i.
Cheers,
Rick

B pillar badges
Can anyone recommend an adhesive to stick b pillar badges on? I've taken the badges off to remove the vinyl trim. I was going to use araldyte but it will probably take the paint off if they need removing in the future.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Harsh front end vibration
Thanks for all suggestions so far. I've changed all 4 wheels for a set off my brothers car whish I know to be balanced. Jacked up both front wheels and they rotate freely with no grinding / stiff spots also no marks rubbing patches on tyres or brake hoses suspension legs etc. Top mounts are tight ...

Harsh front end vibration
When I drive over 50 mph, the front end of my car starts shaking. The front tyres are getting close to the limit so I've swpapped them onto the back but it hasn't made any difference. There is nothing rubbing in the arches and everthing looks ok with the suspension. I don't think it's the engine as ...

Re: Mintex pads?
Mintex extreme are shocking, don't get them. They will fade away to nothing after two minutes of quick driving if you have 239mm discs. However Mintex M1144s are excellent and pretty fade resdistant I've found. I'm on EBC yellow stuff at the moment, seem good but not really worn them in yet.

Re: New tyres
well i went for the toyos in the end and just got them today. Can say they look pretty good. Just need to get them fitted. I've got Toyos on my mk1 - great in the dry - but not so good in the wet (esp if cold) apparently. Not that I ever drive it fast in the wet. I agree. Amazing grip in the dry ...

To see if it's a vacuum problem, try driving with the fuel cap off for a bit.

Re: firing sequence for 16v 9a engine
Working now, changed the coil and cleaned up the HT leads, made sure everything was plugged in. Doesn't stall anymore. Just taken it for a spin round the block sat on a bucket because it has no seats in! I can drive it to the garage now to get the cambelt done and get an MOT (probably after ...

Re: firing sequence for 16v 9a engine
The engine is from a 1990 Passat I think. It primes, then fires up and runs ok now, but just dies when I take my foot off the accelerator. I'll change all the bits I mentioned before, plus fuel filter and see if it improves. Oh yeh, put shiny brand new plugs in and they went black within minutes.

Re: firing sequence for 16v 9a engine
Thanks lads, think if got it right now. Not running quite right yet but it hasn't turned over for 5 years before saturday! I've put a spark plug tester on each plug and they all seem to have a weak spark. I'm going to change the dis cap, rotor arm and HT leads to see if it gets stronger, if not do ...

firing sequence for 16v 9a engine
HI,
Does anyone have a diagram or a good explanation of the firing sequence for a 9a engine? I believe the rotor spins anti-clockwise and is 1-3-4-2 but where on the dis cap does no.1 go?
Thanks,
Rick
