Re: G562LWU

I meant to say, may be worth compression testing it too, to determine its condition.

Re: G562LWU

I would be tempted to get it serviced and run it for a while before deciding if it needs a rebuild. Look out for the Euro Car Parts discount codes to keep the parts costs down and go from there. It may still be a good engine. My '89 Scala was off the road for nearly 10 years, I've fully serviced it ...

I'm sure there was a post recently with photos of this Scirocco from some years ago, it was the number plate which stood out - A501LAD

Re: headlight, mainbeam or fog lights not working

I had an issue where the headlights would go off, it turned out to be the column plug that was loose.

Does the brake warning light come if you press the pin down or take the cap off the reservoir?

Re: 2.0 ABF Conversion Engine Cost

Buying an unknown is always a risk.

Like BlackGTX says, it's much easier if you have the complete car, plus you can sell off other unneeded parts and recover some of the conversion costs.

Re: HT Leads

I had the same issues ordering from ECP, the short king lead would suggest 16v, but they're still listed for 8v.

I managed to get the correct set for my DX engine from GSF - part number 926VG0180

They are the correct lengths, and for a dizzy cap with the pin type terminals.

Re: Boot lock seal

Yep, did mine yesterday. Open tailgate, undo the two screws securing the latch and then carefully unhook it from the 'S' shaped link. Undo the two screws securing the lock barrel assembly and let it drop back. Remove the remains of the old seal and clean the surround. Fit the new seal, carefully pus...

Re: Unstable Acceleration

The bolts also should be tightened when the weight is on the ground, at rest position. So can't be done when jacked up or on axle stands, needs to be done on ramps or over a pit.

Re: air dryer bags

They definitely help, and a bargain at that price. I've one in my Scirocco and one in my missus' Golf Mk2 GTI, I don't think you can microwave these ones, only dry on a radiator etc.

Yep, KR and 9A bolt pattern and port spacing is the same. I used to have a 9A Corrado and fitted a KR manifold to it.

Looks great!!

My Scala had been sat for nearly 10 years, it feels really tight with no knocks or creaks, I do wonder if it will loosen up soon...

Re: Second Coming...

Been doing bits 'n' bobs over the last couple of weekends - full service & cambelt, discs & pads, replaced instrument panel & heater motor and fitted inertia reel belts in the back. Still got a lot of cleaning and cosmetic stuff to do - when the weather improves. I think it's almost wate...

Good to hear you got no rust behind the windscreen seal, sorry my help was a little late as you had already broken the screen, if you are un sure on any thing else then please ask, as someone is on here most of the time and we are always happy to help. ;-D No problem, many thanks. Re: RE: Re: Second Coming...

Rear view mirror has a tiny grub screw holding it onto the metal base which is glued onto the windscreen, loosen the grub screw (you need a small Allen key, something like 3mm) then the mirror slides off the base plate. Rear view mirrors are tricky to get hold off, I think someone on here did use a...
