I would have thought the zenith carb would be original, that's whats on my 78 .I would recommend cleaning the contacts on the points and re gapping if you have not already done this . What is the difference in early and late rear panels and when did the y change?

Interesting to see it has the inner wing strengthing plates fitted, I had seen a couple of american sciroccos with them .
