Now on eBay, although I'm not sure I'm allowed to post a link directly to it on here.

Re: Mk1 Storm restoration
After having gotten a college year out the way, I've looked again at the car. It seems its a bit more than a few patches, its quite rusty underneath. So its either a bit of a restoration, or breaking for spares. While I'd love to do the work myself, I'd only do it if I were keeping the car long term ...

Re: Mk1 Storm restoration
At last, I've had a chance to get my teeth properly into the forthcoming work. I removed the passenger seat and lifted the carpets to reveal the nearside sill, its no worse - or better - than I'd expected. I've done sill repairs on a few other cars inc Mk1 Golf before, so not too worried. And I have ...

Re: Valuation?
I got the bearings done at a local garage in the end. There might be a few other things to do, and £££ to spend, for example I might need a new track rod end too. It will have to wait a few more days until I have space to start stripping out the interior properly and looking at the sills, to see how ...

Re: Valuation?
Update: I still have the car, and its been 'waiting for restoration' all this time. I've started it regularly, every couple of weeks or so, and either let it sit to warm up, or driven it a little bit. This week I started on the mechanical stuff, I removed the front hub and attempted to change the ...

Re: Coilover fitting prob.
It depends on the shape of the top of the coilover. If it can sit securely in the top mount without the spacer, then its not needed. If it cannot, then you will need some kind of spacer in there. (Not all coilovers are the same!) You can use the spacer in the top so the nut is closer to the surface ...

Re: Valuation?
Thanks for the replies, £600-800 seems about right to me, the brake lights were just due to a poor electrical contact and I fixed them in half an hour. I've not looked at the other issues though, I have another project on the go so the car is simply stored, for now. It would be nice to see it ...

Mk1 Storm restoration
I have a Scirocco and I was kinda hoping to keep it and eventually one day restore it. But, I might need to sell it. It was fairly reliable and I ran it for a little while. However its MoT ran out a year ago and since then its just been stored. I have run the engine every couple of wheels and driven ...
