Re: Steering column and tubing removal
Thanks for the diagram. Yes the nuts going into the firewall are original so thanks for pointing out they are shear bolts and not some type of rivets as I thought. I’ll seek advice on those. Thank you again
The sheer bolts are the ones numbered 3 in the diagram.
Leave what you thought were ...

If you look at the following link
https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/scirocco/sci/1987-13/7/721-126000/
you have the top column shown.
It is attached to the car body at five points - two bolts at the top just below the ignition switch and steering lock housing; one nut at the top of the pedal box ...

Re: Instrument Cluster Removal Mk2
Hi Trevor
You have six pins along the top of the thick arm of the "L" which are a push fit into sockets and should lever out fairly easily.
There are some plastic lugs (not sure how many) that the "L" shaped board clips under - certainly one on the end of the thick arm, one along the top, I think ...

Re: Fuel leak from pipe attached to fuel pump?
The most fuel that will come out, will be what drains back out of the main fuel pump and what drains out of the small plastic tank through the metal pipe to the hose you are about to replace. The fuel is not gravity fed from the fuel tank but supplied via the in tank lift pump.

I had this recently - brake fluid dripping out of the bottom between the drum and the backplate. It was not however a faulty new cylinder. The brake fluid was coming out past the threads of the bleed nipple. My solution ...

Re: Seat tilt cable fitting
I took some photos when I did my passenger seat. If you pm me your email address I will dig them out and send them to you. There are a couple of wire loops on the seat frame that you have to thread the cable through.

You may need to specify whether you have a VDO or Motometer set of clocks, as they have different configurations of plugs.

Have you managed to connect the mirror loom into the car yet?
If not, you should have three loose wires coming out of a six block connector - one is black/yellow, one is brown and one is white/green.
The other wires coming out of the connector should run through plastic sleeving to connector blocks ...

Hi Terry
I was only the other day, wondering what you had done with the car - I came across your name and number in some papers I was going through.
You may remember that I came over in my red left hand drive Mk1 to have a look. Your children had never seen one on the road !!
Unfortunately for me ...

Re: Temperature Gauge MFA Rev Counter
Before taking it all apart, check that the terminal on the single wire coloured Yellow/Red which runs from the temperature sender into the wiring harness is securely connected, as the wire can corrode and break at this point. Replace the terminal if necessary.
Then, with this Yellow/Red wire ...
