Re: Spotted

I saw a pair of white mk2s lapping Silverstone, showing up a lot of more modern machinery. Good work, chaps! :hi: :vcool: Ha Ha...thanks dude, was a really good day, just wish i could have held off the VR6 Mk2 Golf off for a few more laps because I was quicker on a complete lap. Hope to see you at ...

Re: V.A.G. Trophy - Mallory Park

We are at Silverstone in 3 weeks time....pop along and have a look. I am really looking forward to this one...I may have time to swap the standard springs and dampers for something a little better. I put some large bump stops in to replicate larger spring rates, but the standard dampers just cannot ...

V.A.G. Trophy - Mallory Park

I don't belive this....my tired old Mk2 Rocco GTII has won Class 'B' again...thats a hat trick now!! On a weekend with some pretty awesome machinery turning out to race I felt a little out of place in the assembly area with my caged up road car. In front was a 380bhp Seat Leon Cupra 'R', a 320bhp Co...

Float level on Weber DMTL

Does anyone know how to set the float level on a Weber DMTL. I was racing at Mallory this weekend and I had a problem with fuel starvation in Gerrards (long left hand corner) despite having half a tank of fuel to meet the weight limit. I took the carb to bits and raised to fuel level in the carb, do...

Re: V.A.G Trophy Race - Cadwell

No its not flat, there is a brake for Gerrards, but is a very fast corner....well on in 4th gear, over 100mph I would think.

Do you still have the 2CV....I used to work with a guy who used to race in 2CV's a few years ago(James Grantham), the 24hr race looked mad!!!

Re: V.A.G Trophy Race - Cadwell

Well...I have had no time to do any decent prep work for the weekend, but I did manage to change the rear brake shoes so I have rear brakes now... I also managed to make up some spacers to slip the rear dampers up through the body a little. Hopefully that will preload the rear suspension a little to...

Re: V.A.G Trophy Race - Cadwell

It is amazing through there....its a bit more difficult on standard springs and dampers because it is a bit slower to respond, but fantastic fun!!!!

Re: Steel Head Gasket

Anyone know what the compressed thickness of the G60 steel head gasket is in comparison to the standard gasket....just wondering if it improves compression ratio?

Re: water pump pully bolts

Deffo worth changing for high tensile versions....they are like chocolate and a right pain in the butt to remove without rounding them.

When I have had problems getting them out, i have found that hammering a spline drive socket used to remove driveshaft bolts into the hex gets them out nicely :P

Re: GT Carb issue - idles at 3000rpm

Mine did that....there is a panel that fits around the pedals and the throttle pedal was catching on that so it couldn't return properly. If the RPM drops when you pull the pedal back it can only be the pedal end because if the restriction was the other end the cable would just buckle rather than cl...
