Re: Scirocco mk2 GTX 1986 £2750 Bradford

I know it is a long shot as expect you have sold the car but I'm definitely interested if it happened to still be available.
Please let me know either via email or phone, thanks.

Re: Light weight panels

Cheers for the suggestions guys. Rear spoiler will be replaced with something a little more effective (watch this space ... big plans for this car). I can not fit sliders or indeed anything else that would comprimise security or water tightness as the car will have to live outside on the drive, just ...

Re: Light weight panels

Thanks for the responses guys. All stuff I had on the list already but going to look at what can be done with the tailgate in terms of lightening it. I have to keep a window mech on the drivers side at least as I struggle with heat of any form (I consider 16°C too be about the maximum comfortable ...

Light weight panels

I take it from some of the other posts on thsi forum that there are no easily available light weight panels for the closures on a Mk2 Scirocco??? I am considering my options for project budget balster and today it's loosign as much weight off the car as possible!!! It's a trackday weapon before ...

Re: 20v turbo conversion

Actually using Mk2/Mk3 golf uprights on a lowered Scirocco / mk1 Golf is a really good idea so long as combined with lower ball joint extenders ... it allows you to correct the steering geometry which goes to pot when you lower an A1 chassis!!! Some machining is required but I hope to be covering ...

Re: 6 speed conversion ?

Apparently I hadn't researched all the options on this after all!!!!! If you go for an aftermarket gear kit like the Gemini one (there is a group buy currently on ClubGti ...not bad at £1300 for the gear kit) it can be made to go in a Mk1 unmodified! The later factory 6 speeds do still need chassis ...

Re: Introduce yourself

Hi, I've been around dubs, mainly Mk2 Sciroccos since about 1995. I think I've probably done most things with them, either on mine or other peoples over that time and am more than happy to help anybody if I can. I am a professional automotive design development engineer, currently working on ...

Re: Coilovers

There is no advantage to coilovers if your not going to play with the height constantly. If your after a particular spring rate and damping rate combination it really doesn't matter if you get there via coil overs or fixed height kit. As Monza Jake has said, you really need the damping adjustment ...

Re: 6 speed conversion ?

6 speed box is physically a bit big to get in without chassis leg mods too .. trust me, I've reasearched all the options on this!

Re: Coilover fitting prob.

You should also have a washer on top of this under the nut. erm no. None supplied with the coilover kit. Does it really matter? Yes, if you don't use it you'll probably struggle to maintain the correct clamping load on the assembly. It acts as a thrust washer and also a provides the correct surface ...

Re: Rear Disc Conversion

The problem is getting the handbrake cables (Scirocco 16V) as the last stocks I knew of was at GSF and they can't get me one to replace my worn one, checked last week :crying: I'd say they aren't worth the effort because; heavier than drums no extra retardation (limited by contact patch loading on ...

Re: Monza owners

Monza blue is my fav 'rocco colour ... 3 of the 7 'roccos I've had have been Monzas ... almost cried when I took the car I'd owned for 9 years to the scrappy last week :( If my current car wasn't intended for the track I'd have loved to have another Monza but too hard to deal with the paint issues ...

Re: MK2 Golf front light swap over..

Had the beemer lights on mine and didn't like them so took them off. They are for sale with freshly painted gloss black grille. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d163/mazellann/018-1.jpg I love the look of that nose! Can you please point me in the direction of the bits required and also is there a ...
