Re: Waterproof cover for fusebox
As far as I know the sunroof is not a factory one. Several years ago it was leaking and I think that during my investigations I found it it wasn't standard. I tipped loads of water over the sunroof yesterday and nothing came into the car anywhere, so I don't think the sunroof is the problem. I think...

Re: Waterproof cover for fusebox
The problem is that the water is coming in somewhere behind the dashboard, and I can't get any more of the dashboard out of the way without better tools/more brain power. I tipped 8 buckets of water over it yesterday to try and pinpoint the leak and it didn't leak at all, but when it rained today it...

Blue badge clips
Hi, please does anyone know the part number for the small blue clips that hold on the rear 'Volkswagen' and Scirocco' badges to the tailgate?
And if anyone knows where I can get some that would be ace.
Cheers.

Re: locating a water leak with smoke machine - anyone tried it?
I'm pretty sure it isn't coming from the doors or the boot. When it rains heavily and the car's parked I can see the water coming out from under the centre console. The water on the fusebox has left marks where it has run down it vertically from above. There's no carpet there to soak up water from t...

locating a water leak with smoke machine - anyone tried it?
Someone on the forum suggested that running a smoke machine in the car to pinpoint holes was a good way to find stubborn waterleaks. I wondered if anyone had tried it and been successful? I watched a youtube clip of Wheeler Dealers where they did it but I don't believe everything I see on telly. I'v...

Re: Waterproof cover for fusebox
I found out where the coolant is going - my mechanic had neglected to replace a hoseclip. I had the heater matrix cover off and there was no sign of water around it so I'm pretty sure I can discount the heater matrix now. I had the fusebox out and sure enough there are dried up signs of water gettin...

Re: Waterproof cover for fusebox
I'm also wondering whether a leaky heater matrix might be an issue. The water is coming in behind the centre console, and I'm getting through loads of coolant. There's no obvious smell of coolant in the car though. Would this rule it out? Any way to be 100% sure whether it's the matrix or not? (thou...

Re: Waterproof cover for fusebox
Nate - I've just seen your other post with an annotated plenum locating diagram :) I feel much better informed now. I'll have a poke around tomorrow, before the new fusebox goes in, and see what I can see. At the end of that thread someone has suggested running a smoke machine in the car to see wher...

Re: Waterproof cover for fusebox
goforit1 and nate - the holes I drilled are under the bonnet, under the rain scuttle. Water was collecting around the blower in the centre, so I drilled a couple of holes to allow the water to drain out straight onto the road. The other drainage holes were clear but the water was collecting anyway. ...

Waterproof cover for fusebox
My '92 GTII has a persistent problem with water leaking into the passenger footwell. I've had a new windscreen seal, drilled extra drainage around the blower motor, spent many hours trying to work out how the water's getting in, and still it keeps coming. It's had 4 new fuseboxes over the 6 years I'...

Short circuit - no.3 fuse
As of a couple of weeks ago my no.3 fuse blows as soon as I try to replace it, so I have no stereo/central locking/interior lights etc. There has been water in the passenger footwell due to a leak but the fusebox and surrounding wiring is all dry, as is the stereo wiring behind the central console. ...

water leak due to hole in footwell?
My passenger side footwell is full of water. This happened a couple of years ago, and turned out to be coming through the windscreen seal into the fusebox. I resealed it, dried it all out, replaced the fusebox - everything was fine afterwards. Now the water is back. Assuming it was the same problem ...

Re: heater fan + no.3 fuse problems
I've had a quick look at the fan. It does spin round smoothly, but I had to keep pushing it. I couldn't feel any kind of gritty resistance or obstacles, but it didn't spin as freely as a bike wheel would, for instance. Only had a couple of minutes in my lunch hour and no tools so I didn't take off t...

Re: heater fan + no.3 fuse problems
Yes - a couple of years ago I resealed the windscreen after discovering it had been leaking for years. I replaced the fusebox and all my electrical problems disappeared, it was great! I had to dismantle most of the front interior of the car to discover the leak, so I guess I might have to do that ag...
