Re: New carburettor?

Ah ok, thanks Mark.
For some reason my sent folder says it has no messages in it, but is also 98% full, so I thought there was something amiss.

Re: New carburettor?

Looks like there’s a problem with my sent message folder so I can’t PM you. Could you maybe PM me with your email address please?

Hey James,
I’ve sent you a couple of PMs but they’re stuck in my outbox for some reason. Is your inbox full maybe?

i was making them but cost of materials, labour and machining takes it well over the £100 mark
most dont want to pay more than £30
I would pay £100 right now for a magic flange to make all my carburettor problems to go away!

Re: New carburettor?

Fashioning my own alloy flange sounds a bit beyond my current skill set, but I will definitely be mentioning all of this to my mechanic.
Thank you for all your suggestions.

Re: Replacing coolant flanges

Thanks. I’ve done 20 miles or so in it and no leaks from the flanges or sensors now so hopefully they’re watertight. However the thin hose from the expansion tank to the top of the radiator has now sprung a leak. I’ve just ordered a new one. Is it possible to swap this without draining the system? I...

The picture on the other thread is my engine, and yes it’s still the original airbox

Re: New carburettor?

Thanks guys. I’m certain that the flange has broken because it happens every year or two - gets replaced, and then breaks again. I’m wondering whether there’s a better option than the current carb with its constantly deteriorating flange, but like you say, maybe it needs a bigger washer or repositio...

Re: Replacing coolant flanges

If anyone else is replacing these the parts numbers are:
Red - 251-919-369B
Black - 251-919-501A
Grey - 191-919-369B

Plus the O ring seals with the parts number mentioned upthread.

Re: Replacing coolant flanges

I wonder should I have used silicone oil when fitting the flanges as well?

Re: Replacing coolant flanges

I’ve been trying to find the seals. They’re out of stock at VW Heritage where they cost a quid. Everywhere else wants between £5 and £20 for one! I’m trying to get them today/tomorrow because my MoT is due next week and I still need to get the car to a garage for more work before that. As an emergen...

Re: Replacing coolant flanges

Thanks so much for checking. That saved me having to undo it all. Good news- I put it on the right way up. Bad news - two of the three switches that sit in the other flange are leaking. Presumably the O rings are to blame and I ought to replace all three while I'm at it. I’ve found these options on ...

Re: Replacing coolant flanges

Thanks.
Ok, I think I get what you mean about the fixings. I’ll pull the hose off again and check that the central tube lines up properly. Hopefully I put it on the right way round already. It’s 50/50.
Thank you for your help. I really appreciate the time and help I get here.
