Won't start
A couple weeks ago the head gasket went on the motorway.
I finally got round to changing it by now i can't get it to start again.
Its had a new gasket, head bolts and belt. And ive timed it up using, flywheel mark (also put it at tdc @ #1 when head was off), inside mark on cam and on intermediate ...

Autotoad: you answered my next question with lowering the car on the engine, I did it with minis wasn't sure if the rocco was too heavy or the overhang at the back too big ...

special engine removal tools?
Before I go in and butcher up my engine trying to get it out, how far will I get before I get stuck and then have to put it all back together to go to a shop to buy a special vag tool?
Or will I be pleasantly suprised and they come out like a dream?

Knocking under turning
When turning hard at slow speeds, usually at full lock, there is a knocking noise coming from the floor. CV's seem to be alright, as well as balljoints and trackrod ends. Wondered if this was a common fault or if anyone has had this before?

Re: Amp mounting
I had one fitted there in my mini, seemed like a great idea until a friend stood on it. The front seats in a mini were hinged at the front so the whole seat would tilt. This isn't a problem in a scirocco.

Re: Amp mounting
Well one will definately have to be around the boot area and I'm not to keen to screw it to the back seats (not sure if velcro will work). The other one will have to be closer to the front of the car to run both comps off it and the 6x4s in the back. i was thinking under a front seat, but then again ...

little bit rough around 2.5k rpm
I've got a 1.8 overbored to a 1.9, with a weber 32/36 carb at the moment. Runs perfectly apart from then the engine speed is somewhere between 2000 and 3000 rpm, I then there is a small loss in acceleration in this engine speed band and the car starts to kangaroo slightly, although its nothing ...

Re: New stereo / new speakers cutting out at volume - help!
you don't even need the headunit keys really, i just used 2 flatheads and pushed from the back and it pops out. check for a break in the harness at the back of the head unit. there could be a short.
