Re: Mars Red GTX Restoration

All the brake parts and powdercoted parts yet to be fitted! As you can see a straight, honest, origin...

I'd have a 2.0l 16v out of the BTCC Audi quattros. (9a, 6a, derivative).

305bhp naturally aspirated 8200rpm. Yes sir :vcool:

Matched with a Sadev sequential 6 speed gearbox.

Re: Mars Red GTX Restoration

The more I say the more gutted I am I sold it. As before though happy to see it getting much deserved TLC. I know the owners of this car going back to the late 80s when it was bought as an approved used car, just never had the time and cash to do it justice. Glad I rescued it from abandonment on th...

Re: RED DEAD Revolver-On going daily 89 Mk2 GT

If you can find out where to buy a new steering rack boot for non-extortionate money let me know! Mine is a little bit scabby with age!

Re: Mars Red GTX Restoration

One word.. Jealous :swoon: Sorry two.. Inspired  Cheers mate, :buddy: So whilst doing some filing and sorting out my paperwork of all sorts I thought I'd had a good look through the cars history and receipts etc.. It turns out, astonishingly, that it has EVERY MOT certificate that it ever...

Nice job, liking the attention to detail and making things tidy! I'm sure you'll agree, the more bits you do, the more you find to do! Keep up the good work! :vcool:

Re: Front lower strut brace fitting...

It's more the point of how can you possibly apply a torque setting through an elastic bush!?

Are those bolts longer than the standard ones?

Re: Mars Red GTX Restoration

So with the roads Being salted on a more regular basis now, I decided that it was time for some rust prevention. I thought it was about time to pull off the body kit and have a look at what it was like. (I'd been avoiding this job, and losing sleep about what I mighty find!!!). So with a dry day tod...

Re: Steering rack movement, wandering steering

Reading this just made me go and have a look with the torch at mine being paranoid! :hehe: luckily all is good! As said try the rack and bushes first, if not then look at the inner ball section of the track rods, these have worn on both the roccos I've had.. Or obviously the actual track rod end.. F...

Re: Mars Red GTX & Mk2 Gti Race car

Xmas was a chance to get some much needed things for the garage as ever! Got myself some tracking gear! Very easy to use and now my GTX drives in a perfect straight line, with the rack centred and doesn't pull a single bit! Mint! So chuffed :vcool: Obviously will be very handy for the race car too, ...

Re: engine upgrade question

if you do a 16v conversion use a 2.0 you will probably regret it later if you don't. you will need a 16v manifold and the ignition wiring from an early golf or corrado then probably carbs and manifold if you don't want to do too much wiring. you can use the 2e bottom end with your head but will nee...
