Re: removing front mk2 bodykit

i'll be taking it off agin in the not so distant future to smooth it so its just held on with the screws at the moment. i love sikaflex, lovely almond smell when its still wet, pain in the arse when you get it on your favourite jeans though.

Re: 7.5 inch rims

i've used 16x7.5j et25 rims before. 205, not sure on profile. they where too wide offset. on standard suspension, any load inn the back caused rubbing. 15's with lower profile / thinner tyres could be a different kettle of fish though. http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q295/colledge123/SL732483.jpg...

Re: Probably get this a lot (lowering related question)

i've got coilovers on mine and its my daily. i live in one of the worst areas for bad roads and i'm part of a band so have to carry some big heavy loads regularly and they're holding up really well. yeah the ride is hard, but you eventually learn to keep an eye on potholes. and if you're anything li...

Re: removing front mk2 bodykit

thanks. eventually managed to get it off. as you said, theres a strip of rubbery adhesive down the side, but theres a big blob at the top so that was the stubborn bit. got one side off with an exacto-knife, but snapped both of them on the second side so had to finish the job with a burly kitchen kni...

Re: removing front mk2 bodykit

yeah that sounds like it. i might be able to squeeze an exacto knife in there and cut it. its sealed / taped / something further down too.... but not as securely. still look a small amount of paint off though :( luckily on the overlapping part though.

removing front mk2 bodykit

is there a special technique for removing the front section of the bodykit (just the bit along the front, under the bumper)? i've removed all of the securing screws i can find, including the ones behind the two circular blanking plates. its almost off but its snagging on both upper corners where the...

Re: Fitment Of Steering Wheel And Boss Kit.

i've got that snap on boss, its alright, any wheel wobble makes it rattle alot though. you need to find out if you have a large spline or a small spline. the later 'roccos and golfs have a large spline so need a different boss. that one you posted is marketed as fitting a corrado too so it should be...

carb rubber mount

this all due to my stupidity. i set about fitting a nice weber to my mk2 gt. i undid the wrong bolts ontop of the pierburg and pulled. it came uff really easily. the i realised that what was underneath didn't look ring. the rubber carb mount had pulled clean in half, with the carb mounting bolts and...

Re: Replacing suspension??

what are you after? do you want to lower your car / get a sportier (more harsh) ride or do you want to keep a fair amount of comfort? and fyi, all the suspension gubbins off of mk1 golfs fit the 'rocco so that opens up the market a bit.

Re: what security measures do you take

my steering wheel comes off.... just if i'm parking in a particularly dodgy looking place.
also got a factory fitted alarm... but i rarely use it because its annoyingly sensitive. really should have a look at it.
