Yeah, check the timing but also look at it from the point of view No1 cylinder is TDC and the camshaft is that as well. That means taking off the cam cover and making sure the No.1 cam lobes are in the correct position.

A little tip which was done at the factory when built. They applied a small amount of sealant in the bottom of the sunroof seal groove. In the groove of the furry sunroof seal which grips the sunroof lid metal edge, apply some rubbery glue or brake caliper piston grease. The gripping part of the sun...

My scirocco scala has just started cutting out, drives fine but when revs drop to 1000 (at traffic lights etc) it cuts out! any ideas?? has had recent service and doesn't seem to misfire (has a cam in it though so is a little lumpy on idle)?? G12+ is the worst of all in 8v engines with rusty deposits/sludge forming depsite flushing and lack of cooling due to a film it deposits on the internal metal surfaces. Best using G11, Comma Extreme G48 which is the same as BASF made for VW under the spec G11. Side by side there is no differnce. Com...

Its stuck on at each end with a vertical strip of glue about 3cm inboard of the seam split.
