Its quite common for the switched live for the radio to be taken from the blower switch. I believe its the black and yellow wire

If it’s just a tight spot on the steering I’d be inclined to say it’s the u/j starting to seize up. The rack shouldn’t have water in it and won’t be long for this world. But if you’re changing it do the u/j as well

The battery light fault could be whats causing the A/C to not work as it needs to know the engines running before itll work

go easy on it and dont try to rip it off before its ready because it will take clear coat with it! Heat, toffee wheel and patience. Worth doing, really cleans up the overall look imo

I have. There does seem to be a little build up of dirt around the back of the wing/front sill. I dont do many miles in it tho so its easily kept on top of by cleaning out. Also i have taken the aerial out and put a descrete behind the dash so that isnt in the firing line either
