Sunroof Help

Hi Guys

Haven't been on here for a long time. Haven't been able to spend much time with my beloved GTX lately, however hoping to change this in the near future.

My first project has been to try and resurrect the slide & tilt sunroof.

To my horror the parts are definitely obsolete.

First problem ...

Re: Dilemma?

I agree with Ben.
I took mine off after I had removed the vinyl at the window level and found the paint underneath to be immaculate.
I'll check the next time I am over at my brother-in-laws.
Is this the same location as the "purple" one used to be at as the last time I passed it was empty ...

Re: hi I'm new, just bought my first rocco!

The 1.8 injection Scirocco engines in the UK were DX coded.

I think the JH engines were the 1.8 8v with cats and never made it to the UK in the Scirocco anyway unless for some insane reason you asked for a cat! :dash: .

I've got a detailed procedure on how to fit the 256mm brakes with the Vauxhall ...

Re: hi I'm new, just bought my first rocco!

Oh and forgot I've got a 9A if you want it. Will throw in a KR head&Cams as well(refurbished) .
Bought it for the GTX however I'm smitten with my 3A setup.

Re: hi I'm new, just bought my first rocco!

Welcome.

Love this car. No other Vw handles like the baby you've just picked up.

ABF is a tall block and has been known to cause clearance issues. I'm running a 3A with a piper cam in my GTX just now with no issues and the acceleration is fantastic.

Have gone down the Vauxhall route with the ...

Re: new to the scirocco scene

Fuel Pump stop working, was it noisy?. Sounds intermittent to me from the description. I'd check the fuel pump relay.

Re: new to the scirocco scene

Hi Chris
Not too far from you over in Bonhill. I'm almost certain you're car will be Fuel injected as the Scalas of that era were and the GT2 carbed. Sound advice from GTXTRA there.
In the process of cleaning up my Scala(91) and suffered the horrid stud snap on the rear axle when I tried to remove ...

Re: Horrible gear selection

Getting there with the old girl...

Clutch done, new cable on , plate fixed to bulkhead (not sure how long this is going to last though) Raceland exhaust on (they do fit the tall blocks with no issues!) and married to a 2.5 " Jetex exhaust(best fitting exhaust I have ever put on a Scirocco ...

Re: Horrible gear selection

After one very wet weekend in the drive,

The clutch came off along with the Gearbox. Lots of Friction plate still there although was showing signs of burning up. Bolted it all back together with a new nicely balanced pressure plate and flywheel married to a 16v gearbox and bang no difference ...

Re: Horrible gear selection

Cheers for the quick reply.

My missus is looking in total shock and awe at why I keep going back to the Scirocco.....she really doesn't understand. I have a horrible feeling you are right about said clutch. I'll have a go at getting to the meet. Wednesday night might be an issue though.

On the ...

Horrible gear selection

Greetings

Been out of the Scirocco game for a while, however I'm back . This time I've gone for a GTX as my painful project. Not to worry however she does have a few issues.

Right she is running an Audi tall block 2 litre(3A if think) married to a Golf PB head and fast road cam, don't know the ...
