Re: Brembo pads..
I probably bought the same as you if you got them from gsf, new brembo pads and the split vented discs? The pads seem pretty good, to bed them in I gently sanded the pads with low grade grit paper in a swirling motion, and then very fine wet and dry on the disc surfraces. Then gently driving for 100...

Re: Weak spark probs
Sounds like your having exactly the same problem i've just had for weeks! My car was running and then died. I had a good spark from the coil but not so good on the plugs, it would not fire at all, even though there was spark and fuel. I replaced the coil, checked the earth straps etc. It turned out ...

Re: Car died completely
Sorted! Hi all, upon further inspection today I found the rotor arm to have a tiny piece burnt out of the strip where the insulating glue/plastic is. I have no idea how I missed it before, I had a spare from another golf, popped it in and it fired up straight away even after not being run for a coup...

Re: Car died completely
Thanks again guys. I have changed the coil already so it's definitely not that. The spark from the coil is very strong compared to the spark at the plugs but I guess this is normal? The distributor has definitely not moved, and it doesn't tie in with it having gone from being a very intermittent pro...

Re: Car died completely
Is there any way the timing can have adjusted itself? Again this seems strange because it was running fine, and then just stopped... All fingers are pointing at something electrical, but spark and fuel should give something at least?

Re: Car died completely
It was running perfectly, I was driving home on the motorway, steady 70, it would suddenly cut out, and then only cut back in when I applied full throttle, it did this intermittently for about 10 minutes. I pullled over, had a good jiggle under the engine bay, and then it was fine the rest of the wa...

Car died completely
Need some help, the car died completely after being totally fine the other day. It turns over but does not fire at all. The things I have done so far. Changed coil, checked spark plugs, cleaned, brushed, all good. Each plug has a good spark, as do the distributor leads, and dizzy cap. The plugs come...

Rubber carb gasket, same for webber and pooberg?
Hi all, as the subject. Is the rubber carb mount the same for the webber as the pooberg? Thanks

Re: 87 carb wont start, help!
Ok. It just seems a little odd because I have known it to be leaking for a couple of weeks, and it's been fine and then just suddenly died. Like an electricaly problem. I am about to buy the gasket but not sure if there the same for the webber and the pooberg? Thanks again

Re: 87 carb wont start, help!
I've had each plug out with the lead attached and they all have a good strong spark, the dizzy is clean and has no cracks. It's very perplexing. Bit of a breakthrough today, I have found the carb inlet rubber has deteriorated and as such is leaking. However I can't see this leading to the car sudden...

87 carb wont start, help!
Right, basically the car started playing up on the way home the other day, idling poorly and basically cutting out at anything other than full throttle. I stopped, had a jiggle under the engine bay, got it running and made it home. Went to start it today and it wont fire at all. Initially as it had ...
