Re: New Heater Blower Fitting
the easiest way is to remove the wiper mechanism as its in the way when trying to remove the blower motor complete to remove the wiper arms, remove plastic nut covers at the base of the arms and undo the 10/13mm nuts give the arms a little wiggle and they should come free from the spindles next remo...

Re: Factory rear inertia seatbelts - Mk2
It's probably worth double checking your shelf supports, to make sure the mounting brackets are present, not just on the last few months of RHD production for example. good point, when i removed the shelves either side of crustys old parcel shelf there definitely wasn't any bolt holes there or sign...

Re: New carburettor?
Taking out my old filter for service, I noticed there was a trail of fine black grit along the intake side of the filter seal, so I'm guessing that this is the kind of stuff that potentially can get sucked into carb jets if the air box isn't clipped up securely, though the side clips on their own s...

Re: New carburettor?
out of curiosity are you saying it will stall when you press the brakes? im wondering if the brake servo could be compromised?
quick way to test is to remove the servo vac pipe and see if the same problem exists

Re: New carburettor?
The reason I mentioned the bypass jet (assuming the Weber has one), is that the throttle flap would probably be designed to be fully closed when the engine is idling and the choke is off. The bypass air and fuel jets allow the idle mixture to be controlled more precisely in order to meet the carbon...

Re: Indicators issue
i had a similar issue with a mk2 golf which turned out to be a straight to earth short in one of the light fittings for the indicators
but would only do it when the stalk was used but would work fine on hazzards

Re: Rear brakes trouble
what was the handbrake figures?
on the test there should be parking brake figure and the foot brake figure, wondered if both tests highlighted an issue on one side or only on one part of the test?

Re: Rear brakes trouble
does sound like either air still in the one side or alternatively something mechanical daft as it sounds if the old ones had leaked at all and gotten onto the shoes that really wouldnt help either fyi the larger slave cylinder should have this part number https://www.classic-vw.co.uk/rear-brake-drum...

Re: Replacing coolant flanges
pull the hose off straight as I’ve snapped one off before and had to buy a new radiator… Good point, also before you pull, gently twist the hose to and fro over the nozzle with a pair of pliers to release its adhesion to the nozzle. Once you've done this, It's often easier to carefully push the hos...
