i remember fitting a shorter cable or at least trying to fit one to my rocco and it was a no go
the golf has a shorter cable
when i fitted the south african clutch conversion kit, the link bar for the bulkhead bracket to the pedal was too short and had to make some lomger ones for that reason

get yourself a cheap oil pressure kit and remove the sender in the head to test the oil pressure, no point guessing your actual oil presure as your current sender might be telling the truth :swoon:

nows a good time to be doing it as its much hotter, the plastic wont be as brittle but yes you do have to split the casings in order to fit through the scuttle.
removing the wiper mech is a good idea and as above a good chance to refurb the wiper mech.
take your time and it will be a fairly straight ...

is this the door seal that goes around the entire frame? or just the metre long bit that goes from the the top down the A pillar?

Thank you!! I've ordered those.

I took the old ones out to measure up to see if I could find an off the shelf flanged bush. For others' reference, it is roughly 8mm ID (well, I measured 8.2 but they're worn), 12mm OD, 18.2mm flange diameter. Couldn't find anything close.

its a real pain but inside there are rubber moulding you have to force out part at a time
it will come out and if i can find the trim i removed from crusty i can put a photo of the clips
this add you can see the profile i mean, its easy to push in but a pain to remove
