Re: Where are you guys buying inserts?
Whereabouts?! The cheapest I've found them online is eBay but they want nearly 50 sheets per shock?ianaudia4 wrote:If you do a search for Bilstein B4....
You should be looking at around £35 a shock.

Re: Rocker Gasket for mk3 golf discontinued..?
Yep, fortunately the dealer nearby rang me back yesterday with stock so that was my Saturday taken care of!
I would have thought it would be in demand as a part so don't know why it would be discontinued but that's what I was told.
Only stopped in June 2012 though so shouldn't be to hard to locate ...

Re: Rocker Gasket for mk3 golf discontinued..?
Fitted. Couldn't get the studs out using the two bolt method so resorted to a pair of small molegrips as I have no need for the old studs.

Rocker Gasket for mk3 golf discontinued..?
I've been trying to locate the rubber upgrade rocker gasket (part no:026 198 025c) and have just been told by main dealer in south london that the part was discontinued in June of this year
Apparently a couple of other dealers are showing as having stock recently though one not to far ...

Re: How easy/difficult - carb
Ref the rocker gasket, buy the MK3 Golf rubber 1 piece affair (part number in the section above), you will need to change the studs but much, much better.
Don't forget to re-attach the earth strap.

Re: Weber DMTL saga HELP! 3rd time lucky?
It was my rotor arm.
The rotor arm itself was completely black and the dizzy cap wasn't much better...
After a good clean of the dizzy cap with soapy water and wire wool then dried (with the missus hairdryer...shhhh) and a new rotor arm she starts up first time and is back on the road :dance ...

So did you ever find out what the problem was?? I'm having similar issues and can empathise with your frustration reading this thread!
My mechanic recons it's either an air leak(possibly rubber baseplate mount) or spark plugs/HT leads, or a combination of both...
Anyway would be good to hear if ...

Re: can you identify these...
Yep, it's a heater. It would have originally been on the pooburg carburettor and someone remembered to swap it onto the Weber. Ex's Golf didn't have this and it ran like crap when cold.
Ok that's interesting though I would have prefered the ejector seat :mafia:

Re: Tuning weber 32/34 carb - mix screw has no effect
I found that the mixture screw out about 1.5 turns is about right then set the idle at 850. Less than 1.5 turns out is too weak and the weber uses this idle mixture setting in fuelling throughout the rev range. Make sure the engine is fully up to temp before adjusting.

Right. This is starting to get right on my tits.
Having thought I'd got this thing tuned up nicely I've been driving for a couple of hours today and realised the idle and running in general is still lumpy :ire: .
