Re: Euro Car Parts Clutch cable any good
Good tips guys, cheers. The benefit of ECP is that if it doesn't fit, there is a branch locally that will refund it, saving postage hassle. I will look into the Volkspares one if they have it. (Off to an all day pub crawl now so haven't checked it properly yet). I guess it will make sense to measure ...

Euro Car Parts Clutch cable any good
The clutch cable on the wife's mk2 GT (1.8 carb 1989) has snapped off at the pedal (not had a proper look yet but guessing its snapped and not just popped off?!). Was getting difficult to select 1st and 2nd for a few days. Anyway, I've had a look on here and found that some retailers sell the wrong ...

Re: Car covers
I got scared off when reading up on them. Too loose no good, too 'fitted' no good. Has to be breathable, absolutely no dirt whatsoever on car before fitting or no good, can hold condensation so wet underneath when dry outside... Minefield!

Re: 2E2 - no idle
Ours did that after I fitted a new waxstat to stop the high idle. To cut a long story short, the carb just needed cleaning. I must have upset years of lodged bits/rust when fitting a new carb mount, as the idle jet kept getting blocked. A good clean sorted it out (at a garage after throwing in the ...

Re: boot lock
Maybe you have sorted this by now. But as there are no replies... you should be able to unscrew the lock from inside the boot. I had to unclip the 3rd rear brake light plastic and unscrew the metal bit (from memory, so bit fuzzy). My problem was that it wouldn't lock so bent the latch with a hammer ...

Re: Intermittent idle problem....
The mrs' 'rococo was doing the same but all the time. I tried a number of things then gave in and took it to a garage. Turned out that it just needed opening and cleaning. Haven't picked it up yet though so will see tomorrow. It's a pierburg too and I should have guessed from having to clean the ...

Wow. Borbets look better than I thought they would without being on a slammed car. Used to seeing them on golfs and love 'em, but dare I say, suit the 'rocco even more!

Re: boot lock on it's way out?
I left the striker well alone so that should be fine. If it goes again I'll get a new latch and leave the hammer in the tool box... Still working though so fingers crossed.

Re: boot lock on it's way out?
Proost Joost. Wish I'd checked for replies earlier... Just gone and used the hammer again! In my defence, I read a thread on the BTCC Golf being 'fixed' with a hammer so must have made sense at the time, and it was dark and urgent just now. I'll try the proper way next time it fails. Must be bent ...

boot lock on it's way out?
Recently the boot lock latch wouldn't grab the pin and lock (close) the boot, so it could be lifted open by anyone. I fixed this with a hammer! - took the lock off, bent the cast metal bit that the hook shaped metal loops through, and all was good... for 2 weeks. It's happened again, does this mean ...

Re: Left my car at the bodyshop today!
Oh balls! You mean you only found out after it had gone in? That takes the shine off it quite literally... Hope you can find a way around it.
