Re: Instrument Cluster Removal Mk2

Thank you WreckTangle,

Your explanation was indeed exactly what I was after. Being an impatient individual, on the second day of trying the instrument cluster came out. Apart from leaving the econometer connected I used the same technique you so eloquently explained. It seems that your method is ...

Re: Instrument Cluster Removal Mk2

My research suggests the "L" shaped psb is NLA. Does anyone know how to immobilise the board ?
I could use an oil pressure gauge as an alternative. Still learning!

Re: Instrument Cluster Removal Mk2

Thank you all,
Does anyone know if the 'L' shaped pcb is still obtainable new? I have tried Heritage but they have none. I did not realise just how complex it is. Isolating the faulty component is beyond my skill level. So, the whole pcb will need replacing.

Re: Instrument Cluster Removal Mk2

Thank you GT_II,

At last I have managed to remove my cluster .....Yipee!

Mine is the type with the ecconometer and associated vacuum connection. After many failed attempts to remove it,I left the flexible ecconometer pipe connected and used the more rigid narrower pipe as a guide through the ...

Re: Instrument Cluster Removal Mk2

Thank you for the information Peter. It will come in very handy once I manage to remove the stubborn instrument cluster from the dash. It is still stuck despite my best efforts. Any ideas?

Re: Instrument Cluster Removal Mk2

Dear WreckTangle,

I am writing to you out of frustration and as usual require your assistance. My issue differs from yours in that I have a spurious oil pressure warning. Having checked all the pressure switches, oil pressure etc have concluded the likely culprit is the 'L' shaped oil pressure unit ...

Re: Mk2 Pierburg Carb Repair Kits

Thank you once again WreckTangle,

The cheapo NRV I placed in the fuel supply line has cured my issue. Priming has likely been you issue also GT_II. Incidentally my Haynes manual shows a NRV of the flapper variety located next to the fuel tank inside the fuel line. This, if fitted, is likely to ...

Re: Mk2 Pierburg Carb Repair Kits

Dear Flags,

Many thanks for your offer of spares. I will let you know in due course.

I have an issue with the fuel syphoning back into the tank when stood idle for some time. This I hope to fix with a one way valve fitted between the pump and the fuel reservoir. It is most likely the faulty fuel ...

Mk2 Pierburg Carb Repair Kits

Hi,
As the new keeper of a 1984 GL, I wondered which repair kit would be the best to use on my car. Does anyone have any experience of these kits please? I do not wish to convert the carburation as I want to retain originality.
Regards,
Trevor
