Re: Front Windshield Washer Not Working
So I put 12v down the switch cable and the pump worked, so the resistance must be the switch. Cleaned all contacts with a fibre glass pen which is excellent by the way. Contact cleaner for good measure and it all works a treat. MOT on Tuesday. Thanks GT for all you help.

Re: Front Windshield Washer Not Working
I could do with an insulation resistance tester to check the lines. That would tell me if a cable was breaking down internally. I’ll keep plugging away.

Re: Front Windshield Washer Not Working
Ok so had a quick look at lunchtime. I have no voltage at the pump with it connected. I also swapped the back washer pump to the front for stamps but still nothing. I'm think this has something to do with the burnt out cable on my previous thread. I wonder if the cables have somewhat fused together ...

Re: Front Windshield Washer Not Working
That’s on my to check list tonight. As well as looking at the Wiper switch connections. I was thinking high resistance at the switch. I will report back our findings.

Re: Front Windshield Washer Not Working
Hi GTI thanks again for coming back so soon. I measured the resistance and it was 0.1 so I know the earth is good. I did take the earth out of the connector and connected an earth fly lead from the battery straight to the pump but this made no difference. I agree it all points to the pump but why ...

RESOLVED- Front Windshield Washer Not Working
Hi Guys I thought I'd start a separate thread for this issue as it appears we have a few problems again with the boys car right The front window-screen washer has stopped working. The lad thought it was the pump so he replaced it. It wasn't, that would be too easy. So the fault diagnoses we've done ...

Re: Steering column loom melted
I’m pretty sure that there are some wires that have fused together because we were getting some odd readings. The whole loom needs to be inspected. I think I’ll need to get the cluster out. We need to replace the MFA anyway. He has some Hella spot lights on the car which he unplugged because the met ...

Re: Steering column loom melted
Thanks for getting back GT. I’m happy replacing the cables but I’m worried what other damage has occurred. Found damage to the cable behind the light switch too. I just would like to know the function of each wire so I can check for damage elsewhere. https://share.icloud.com/photos/038fzgN_Ve7 ...

Re: Finally Fixed!!!Speedo not working again!
So we got the Rocco back from the clutch and gearbox specialists last night to the tidy sum of £1425. To be fair we had loads of work done over the 2 months it's been with them. We did eventually get to the bottom of the speedo not working. The brand new cable we got from VW Classics was slightly ...

Re: Speedo not working again!
Gearbox Update So they phoned today to say the gearbox is all back in and working with no leaks but the Speedo still is not working grrrr. They’ve put a drill on the cable side and took it up to 60mph so the cable and gauge are not the issue. What else could it be? I’ve ordered 2 more plastic spines ...

Re: Fuel leak from pipe attached to fuel pump?
We've got the pipe and clips you suggested Mark. What's the easiest way of changing the pipe without draining the fuel tank. Can we pinch a pipe further along the chain to stop it coming out? Thanks.

Re: Speedo not working again!
Gearbox Update The gearbox has been refurbished and waiting to go back in. We've asked the mechanic if he'd change the gearbox linkage too as there is a lot of play in the gearstick. Hopefully be sometime this week that we get the car back. Just needs an MOT now :-D The problem with the Speedo was ...
