I had a similar issue last year with idling and rev counter. It was the ignition module failing, which it did completely leaving me broken down a 1/2 mile from home.

This nice example GT_II with Scala alloys was spotted by a mate of mine. Turned up in Glasgow this weekend at a bike meet... :shock:

Hello Brian68, good to hear another Scirocco is on the road and you are out there enjoying it.
It’s a good idea to get all the mechanical stuff working right then worry about the body work as it’s got a MOT so I guess it’s not rusty holes you have to worry about.

Here's a picture, as you may be able to see it's a bit challenged in the bodywork dept. The previous owner had put on new suspension, fuel tank, filler neck,brake lines,fuel lines, tyres, fuel pump.
So far I've stripped, cleaned and rebuilt the carb and replaced the inlet ...

I'm Brian and I bought a GTII in November. It had been off the road since 2015 and today I just got it mot'd today.
The forum has been a goldmine of info for getting it up and running. It's a little challenged in the bodywork dept, but will be a rolling resto.
