Re: GT2 Restoration Ideas
Ok... 10 points for anyone who can tell me what this is? Maybe a fuel inertia cut off switch? And a few pics of the whole one coming back together! Also, the last picture is of the brake servo, where the previous owner had literally chopped the back of the old servo off and bolted this one to the ...

Re: Brake servo’s
Thanks Mr. Brown, when it’s off I’ll check out the part number and work out what it’s been taken off, it did look a little out of place. During the build I’ll be looking at bigger front brakes anyway if I can get hold of some G60 callipers and adapter plates.

Re: GT2 Restoration Ideas
Yea, I think so too. The gear linkage mounts that attach to the rack are similar, but I think will be ok with some grinding. I’ve got them sat in a rust bath at the moment so will see what they look like when they come out. Thanks guys for the rack info, this one isn’t actually that bad, but good to ...

Re: GT2 Restoration Ideas
Just to give an idea of the rust...
I will have a go and wire brushing and grinding and see how thin it looks in places. This one has really suffered with the sea air.

Brake servo’s
So, quick question. While pulling these two cars apart to try and make one good one, I have two different brake servo’s? Pictures below, but curious as to which one I should be keeping for better braking! Thanks in advance for any assistance, I’ve already read loads of posts on brake upgrades but cou ...

Re: GT2 Restoration Ideas
Thanks Mark, those are the bits I was after as well I think, as mine are pretty crusty. I’m going to leave them in some rust solution overnight and see how they come out, otherwise I may be in the market for some new ones...

Re: GT2 Restoration Ideas
Ok, so a bit more researching leads me to believe the engine I have is a DX rebuilt GTi engineering 1.9 bottom end, with big valves and a twin choke Weber 45 Carb. Should be quick enough, and that led onto fuelling questions. Apparently to fuel this setup I need an electric fuel pump located near ...

Mk2 Fuel System Questions
Ah thank you for this! Ill see if I can source the parts off the old car, and go from there. It's a Weber 40 I think, but will double check. Does this then cover the vapour canister as well? Édit: sorry, re-read. Looks like I will need both. I now have the pump off the other car but looks like I’ll n ...

Mk2 Fuel System Questions
Hey, this is on my resto thread as well and I’ve done a bit of research but can’t seem to work out the answer. So I have an engine with a DX bottom end, with a twin choke carb and lynx setup to go into the car when it’s complete. However, there is no fuel pump on the front, only a blanking plate, and ...

Re: GT2 Restoration Ideas
I guess someone fitted an Separate electronic fuel pump and removed the mechanical pump. You could either re fit the original set up or wire in an electronic fuel pump... Thanks Mark, Is there any preference on these in the scirocco? I know some other marques have a preference for an aftermarket ...

Try tapatalk app if you are taking pictures on your phone as you can upload them from the app. Keep the updates coming as always good to see another Scirocco being saved. Cheers, will give this a go! Currently have a question, may have to post in the engine section too. The engine I will be using ...

Re: GT2 Restoration Ideas
Thanks white shark, I’ve had the frame measured and checked, it’s all ok other than that front arm which is being replaced. Fortunately you can still get hold of them for a reasonable price! And the wing has been swapped with the wing from the black one with a new arch, so it’s going ok at the momen ...

Re: GT2 Restoration Ideas
So, the second shell is now at the body shop, with the first one being consigned to the dustbin/stripped for parts, but the project is a goer! The gti engineering 1.9 bottom end is on its way and the parts will be slowly refurbed as time goes on!

Re: GT2 Restoration Ideas
Decent underbody. It's been rolled over now and is clean on the NS as well.
