Yeah it seems anything to do specifically with RHD Mk2's may end up becoming a bit scarce as these is little demand. Perhaps it's time to consider retiring it from daily duties so it doesn't have the wear and tear from daily use.
I've ordered a 1615mm to try, looking at it again today I'm more ...

Re: 1660mm Clutch cables discontinued? 1615mm as an alternative?
Thanks James, I have tried a shorter one in the past and it was too short, I think it was a 14**mm one which was given it by mistake from the motor factors. I did contact Firstline who manufactured the ones linked in your replies but they said they are now a discontinued line so it may be a problem ...

1660mm Clutch cables discontinued? 1615mm as an alternative?
Hi everyone
I need to replace the clutch cable on the Scirocco. In the past I've fitted the 1660mm cable (part 534721335) as this was the length recommended for the Mk2 1.8 8v carb but it looks like these have been discontinued and are no longer available which is annoying as they were everywhere ...

Re: Lurching and bogging down accellerating at low revs
Found the problem - split carb flange!
Surprised really it was only a problem at low revs, it's in a pretty bad way, easily fixed though. Just wish I kept that used spare I had now!

Re: Lurching and bogging down accellerating at low revs
Thinking about it, I reckon it may be lean. When I leave work in the evenings I usually join straight onto heavy, slow moving traffic and the choke is out just so that the engine idles at 1k - I can't say that I've ever noticed it when this is the case and it's a fairly long stretch of stop/start ...

Re: Lurching and bogging down accellerating at low revs
Thanks for the info GT_II, I think idle mixture makes good sense from your description. The last time I set up the carb I did it with a Colortune so not incredibly accurate but I set it somewhere in the mid range between too rich and too lean, perhaps it's still a bit too lean and with the colder ...

Lurching and bogging down accellerating at low revs
Need some thoughts from the hivemind on this one - some of you might recall the saga last year of my 1.8 GTS playing up, turned out the carb was faulty and Weber replaced it with a new unit. From then on it's been okay, not had any issues and the car has probably done about 4k miles since then. I've ...

Re: Rear wiper, seals etc
Thanks for the advice WreckTangle. I never ran the rear wiper motor much once it stopped working, in fact only once more to check I could hear the relay click and one further time to make sure it had 12v on the contacts. I do think it's likely that the motor has burned out as it used to run really ...

Re: Rear wiper, seals etc
I'll give that a double check just to be sure before I go looking for a replacement. Currently looking for any generic seal that will work for the rear light clusters, I'd much prefer to replace them than have to sealant them. I'd have thought somebody would be onto making reproductions by now but ...

Rear wiper, seals etc
Operation waterproofing boot space will start in a few weeks. The boot has always been a little bit leaky in heavy rain since I bought it but over the last year whichever seals are culpable have deteriorated even more ans on the spring things were starting to get quite bad. I've pretty much narrowed ...

Re: Possible fuel starvation issues with the GTS
Thanks mate, hope you have a great Christmas too!
I got the carb fitted on Saturday and tuned it up, it's been absolutely faultless since. I've done a few trips out in it, Christmas shopping and currently day two of commuting again and it's been fine. Starts first turn of the key now, no rough ...

Re: Possible fuel starvation issues with the GTS
Yeah I can't fault them at all, they've been a real good help. I'm glad the carb was playing up with them too, I was half expecting them to say it's all fine and the issue must be elsewhere. I'll be refitting the new one tomorrow so hopefully no more rough starts and leaky carb.

Re: Possible fuel starvation issues with the GTS
Little update re. carb. I got in touch with webcon about the pump jet leak, they advised I send it back to them for investigation which I did. A few days later I received a message stating that the carburettor was indeed faulty and a brand new replacement will be sent out. Pretty pleased with the ...

Re: Possible fuel starvation issues with the GTS
They've certainly done a good job of your carb there, those pictures really whet my appetite into following this route. In fact, I've never heard a bad thing said about Bromyard so they're obviously doing something right.

Re: Possible fuel starvation issues with the GTS
Yep can confirm mine operated in the same way as GT_II mentioned, when was the crossover date from 2B5 to 2E2?
I've been cleaning up my 2E2 but it'll probably involve a strip down too. I'm in no rush as the weber runs well, it's when the engine is shut off that the problems start. I'm also on the ...
