Re: Mk2 running weak... Advice on where to go fault hunting

Carb flange is common problem of weak mixture.. What was the last MOT CO reading? You really need to find a friendly local garage which you can use there CO machine and adjust the mixture to the correct setting, you just need a screw driver to adjust the mixture screw. not sure what a carb car is s...

Mk2 Carb flange adapters,Any brands beyond Oe ok?

As the title states, are the febi or any other pattern carb flanges any good?

I was tempted to try a febi from Germany but was warned cheaper parts were prone to failure. Oe prices are ludicrous.

Thanks

Re: Car covers

Car covers do very little to protect a vehicle If they were as amazing as the sales pitches go my absolutely mint 205 gti would still be absolutely mint and not needing a sill patch now. Either get a carcoon style vented air chamber or accept a breathable cover will do nothing more than block bird c...

Re: BBS Ra varieties and fitment / tyres

After looking at other ra's online i can see the width and offset are different numbers plaques so they are just standards if the offset is 35

Still worth 80 quid ey

Re: BBS Ra varieties and fitment / tyres

Booth sets will fit with no issues on a standard mk2 wont they? Thanks Mick 15x7 ET25 will fit but it may feel a bit tramliney at first til you get used to the wider track. Awesome Thanks. If you do indeed have 15x7 they are the uber rare BMW variety (and et25).
Thanks i suspected as much, i am going to look at them tomorrow so i will measure the rim. Booth sets will fit with no issues on a standard mk2 wont they?

Thanks

BBS Ra varieties and fitment / tyres

Hello Ladies and Gents :) I have just got a set of Bbs Ra local (£80 so can't complain) and wanted to ask if there is any versions of them that wont fit a standard mk2. They are apparently about 7 wide so its all about offset i guess I was planning to run them on 195 50 15s and they should be fine s...

Re: “O” ring for air box housing

If you have something to make the o ring seal some electrical wire in the groove below helps to pack it out as a quick fix. Mine was there but thin so i packed it out and it seals way better.

Mk2 running weak... Advice on where to go fault hunting

Well now i know why old sam is smoking these days. After a service today i pulled the plugs out and the mixture is weak as p#ss So fitting the new weber has in effect fubarred our engine by messing the mixture up and most likely degrading the rings. The issue has started after fitting it as the old ...

Re: Bang on lock dropping off curbs?

sounds like top mount bearing has a lot of play in it +1 for this. our cars have bonded rubber design top mounts that are notoriously failure prone. the kerb hopping won't have helped either! I haven't bounced it up any curbs hard. I have merely noticed it sounds unhealthy when pulling off one. Do ...

Re: 3D printing and Scirocco parts?

I’m new to 3D printing, getting there though. That Mk2 sill clip has 3 files, tried one in pla that printed well but was too brittle. Just printed another in petg seems a lot stronger, will try it out tomorrow. Let me know how you get on bud :) One huge factor that is easy to miss when starting is ...
