Re: mk2 8v correct running temp and cooling fan issues

Have you got the fan running/spinning the right way? It's meant to pull the air into the engine bay not blow it at the radiator. Lots of short journeys will create mayo on the oil filler cap. You can buy head gasket leak kits on eaby or a good garage should have the equipment to "sniff" t...

Re: Running issue

Your symptoms sound similar to ours except we fitted and weber and its the same. Yesterday ours was idling low at times and although running lovely since set up it still drops to a low idle it seems occasionally. The engine is so happy it holds it fine but its set to 900 so it should never drop belo...

Re: mk2 8v correct running temp and cooling fan issues

To resurrect this thread we definitely have a problem here :-( After the second rad fan i have fitted failed i purchased a brand new one.... 6 weeks later and the new fan is starting to squeak when spun by hand. So i am definitely seeing premature fan bearing failure but why? Is it running too often...

Re: New Project

Hi, yes it was. Got it running this weekend sounds a bit clattery but not run since last year. No smoke on start up though and has been converted to a Weber. Lots of bills, last one from the boys @ the Phirm. Will try and mop it back to get ride of some age marks. Few clips on order for the seats. ...

Re: HELP rocco wont start and need it ASAP

Yes I use a Gunson and find they are out around 0.5% compared to the MOT test, maybe try it at 3% to see if it runs any better but mixture is the last thing to mess with so make sure the timing is spot on before adjusting the mixture. When i get a chance i am going to get ours cross referenced agai...

mark1gls wrote: Sat Jun 22, 2019 12:15 am What did you use to get the CO reading, a Gunson home kit or a proper CO machine like they use for an MOT?
Our gunson bud. They wander readings wise but it does seem consistent once you learn how to use it.

Re: HELP rocco wont start and need it ASAP

Heres a little update, After manually getting the ignition roughly right and getting her running i thought i would go further and finish the set up. I followed Brunty's timing advice on using the bottom pulley after seeing nothing on the flywheel (Thanks Again Bud) and it worked a treat. There must ...
