Re: OEM Coil Springs
The eccentric bolt is used to adjust the camber. It may be best to get a cheap camber gauge off eBay and use this to set the camber. -0.5 to -1deg. Then get the tracking done.

Re: OEM Coil Springs
For shocks I went for Boge oil-filled for originality. On the front I used Boge 27.229.1 inserts. These fit in your existing strut which you have to open up and drain out the original oil. I found it convenient to obtain the correct gland nut tool. You may be able to get away without this but you ru...

Re: To be or not to be, rear spoiler
For me, miles better with the rear spoiler, front fog lights, Pierburg carb and correct size wheels. But much of that is down to personal preference.

Re: OEM Coil Springs
I’ll put in my two-penneth that it probably doesn’t matter too much now, especially if using secondhand springs which will likely be some way off original spec. When I replaced the previous owner’s eBay coilovers on my 1992 GT2 I used the front struts off a GTX that my local scrappy just happened to...

Re: MK2 Fuel Filler Neck (Cabrio swap?)
Dreadnought Customs sometimes have primarily stainless steel replicas available a bit cheaper than the OEM originals. However, they are currently out of stock.

Re: endless Hiccoughs and temporary cutting out.
I gave up on the Weber (fitted by a previous owner) and reverted to a Pierburg which I stripped down, cleaned, rebuilt and adjusted according to the service manual. This eliminated similar problems for me plus restored the benefit of an automatic choke. Had I persevered with the Weber I would have c...

Re: MANIFOLD & CARB COOLING HOSES
OK, but be aware they are for a different engine/carb so might not fit. You could do well to contact the supplier and see what they recommend. At least arrange to be able to return them if they are no good. http://www.bandbcomponents.co.uk/ They did work a treat on my 2e2 setup though, and like you ...

Re: MANIFOLD & CARB COOLING HOSES
The three hoses associated with the Pierburg 2e2 carburetor are available as a set (cheaper than buying individually) from B and B Components, manufactured by Topran. See, https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222965494768 These are great if you have 10mm spigots on your autochoke and waxstat but are a tight f...

Re: PIERBURG Rebuild - pre build advice
The coked-up spark plugs are consistent with the engine having been running rich which tends to happen with a faulty Pierburg. When you refurbished the Pierburg did you actually strip it down completely and clean it? There are various small holes through the casing (air corrector jets) which result ...

Re: PIERBURG Rebuild - pre build advice
You probably want to start a new thread on servicing. What I used was. Spark plugs - New old stock Bosch W7DTC Oil - Quantum Synta 10W 40 Semi-synthetic Filter - VW 056115561G Coolant - Comma Xstream G48 The oil and filter change is one of the easiest I’ve ever done. Everything is so accessible. I h...

Re: PIERBURG Rebuild - pre build advice
Before you throw in the towel and fit a Weber be aware that they aren’t a panacea. My Scirocco came with a Weber fitted by a previous owner and it never ran right. It would conk out due to fuel starvation, especially going uphill. I restricted the fuel return (which seems an awful bodge) and this im...

Re: PIERBURG Rebuild - pre build advice
I used a little hand held vacuum pump for testing. The USPro thing I mentioned before. They are sold as part of brake bleeding kits and are very cheap. You can just suck, but it’s a bit distracting especially if you want to test whether components will hold a vacuum. I used a length of vacuum hose w...

Re: PIERBURG Rebuild - pre build advice
The crucial thing is whether, when the wax stat is at normal operating temperature, the throttle mechanism is at the correct position in the warm-up curve per figure 25. If it is, then you can adjust the right angled bracket and abutment screw to make contact with the 3/4 point unit. You do this fir...
