Next thing, how is it going to be kept in place ?.

Original is fitted under the window and door seals.

Re: "wireless" headliner

I did it. Well... not yet, but I’m on my way. I made a fiberglass so called frame of a Sciroccos roof. Bought a mk3 Golf headliner, slightly modified it and used it as a mould to make one from fiberglass. Merged them and that’s about it. Still a lot of work to do but nothing too hard.

Re: "wireless" headliner

The only problem I can see using a Mk2 headliner is it's a very common problem in Mk2 golfs for the headliner to droop or material to come away so you may just get the same problem???

Golf headliner isn't bolt on solution. I think I have to strip it, make it shorter and narrower, reinforce it ...

It sounds like you are planning on taking it out every week :-D

Turning the car upside down will make it a lot easier, then cut it out and you can do wiht it what ever you want.

As I said before, I don't like this oem solution and I want it to be easily removable.

"wireless" headliner

I've been thinking about it for ages, but haven't come up with anything solid. I'm not a big fan of this oem solution. Has anyone made something custom?

Tere! Welcome aboard! Your English is just fine, far better than my Estonian! Hope you get it back on the road soon. Not sure we have any other members in Estonia?
Tere tere! :) Thank you! I'd be extremely surprised if you could talk Estonian.
There aren't many Sciroccos in Estonia, not even mk3s ...

1991 Scirocco GTII

I bought the car back in 2006. I didn't have any plans with it, other than keep it going and use it as a daily.
