Looked in the boot at the sticker, says Transmission: AUG. That's a good website, will have a good read of that. Of course, even I thought when he said it, that's pushing it a little aha.

The funny thing is that the previous owner listed it as having the gearbox increase mpg at the expense of acceleration, so I guess he wasn't correct because the acceleration is spot on. It's definitely had a change at some point, and going from what you're saying it may have had an AUG box when new ...
