Excellent thread and to let you all know the car is still going strong in 2021. My mate had it for a few years which I think he got it from you ant? Done a deal with a Scirocco Storm. Anyway just thought I would let you guys know 👍🏻

No it doesn't have lsd, few people have recommended it though so if you can afford it might ne worth while. Will spin in the dry ...

Power to fuel pump was via e14 on back of fuse box and it is fused by number 5. Relay 167 was used in the 2nd relay position on the top row. Will put a photo up later.

Re: 1988 Scala 1.8t agu conversion
Ive got my welder coming on Saturday to collect my tank and pump , all he needs to do is weld up the feed and return pipes and relocate the cut out for the mk4 pump so the bottom of the pump rests on the larger flat section ? I'm glad you mentioned adding a support bracket for the bottom as i'd ...

Re: 1988 Scala 1.8t agu conversion
i meant to say to you ant if you have drawings for your modded fuel tank, there`s a guy who owns a company called ready rads in brum who cuts and welds tanks for a living who might be able to make a load of modded tanks just for this purpose.
maybe worth looking into?
That's a good idea, will ...

Re: 1988 Scala 1.8t agu conversion
Cheers Ant, I'm planning on the 20v conversion next year myself and I'm trying to think of a simple solution for my set up for my carb rocco as I know Jack about fuel injection and was impressed with your tank mod.
No problem, i did run it with the original pipes to start with but with reducers ...

Re: 1988 Scala 1.8t agu conversion
Hi Ant, I like your idea of modding the scirocco tank to take the Audi in tank pump as I have a new tank waiting to be fitted . Did you upgrade your solid fuel lines to same diameter as the injection type?
Hi yes I upgraded them to the same diameter as the one off the Audi :-) 8mm internal ...

Re: 1988 Scala 1.8t agu conversion
Nice. Did you hone the cylinders before reinstalling the pistons? I've heard conflicting views regardless of the crosshatching still being visible
I didn't hone them, decided against it in the end as they looked fine. Just cleaned them up and oiled them. Done around 200 miles so far and running ...

Re: 1988 Scala 1.8t agu conversion
Whilst i was under the car making alterations to the exhaust a while back i thought i would take a pic of the gear selector and forgot to put it up, it is the gear selector from the Audi a3, i mounted it under the car, most people put it inside for some reason but seems a lot more work when there is ...

Re: 1988 Scala 1.8t agu conversion
Decided to have a tinker with the fuel sender which is built into the swirl pot and pump holder, currently reads the fuel level backwards which is just annoying! Figured out by removing the green wire from next to the black one and touching it at the top the fuel gauge reads correctly.. result ...

Re: 1988 Scala 1.8t agu conversion
Head was put back on and everything else connected back up, timing is always fun as literally no room to alter it but was double and triple checked before firing it up for the first time, engine started on 1st turn of key but still didn't sound right... missing on cylinder one :x . so tested ...

Re: 1988 Scala 1.8t agu conversion
While i had a little more room in the engine bay i added an additional small slim line fan in case it needed to flick onto its second stage:

I replaced all 4 piston rings while i was at it, the middle ones only really needed doing but stupid not to do the others ...
