Re: 2016 National - CAMPSITE INFO

I know it's a bit last minute, but can I put my name down for camping, Friday and Saturday?
(Assuming my brakes are ok, and don't bind on again...)

Re: 1982 "FrankenRoc"

So, I haven't really managed any of my plans yet.

Taken a week off work to get this ready for the national on Saturday. Longer drive this year as I've relocated to Suffolk :)

Re: 1982 "FrankenRoc"

Another update to say that nothing new has happened. Still looking for the right job, and moving house too. Anybody want a 3 bed semi in lower Walton for £220k?

Looking at a place in Northwich. I know there's a few on here around that way.

Re: 1982 "FrankenRoc"

All been a bit quiet lately while I look for a better job to fund it.

Anyone know of anyone looking for a 35 year old new Physics graduate? :)

What are my brakes?

Had the brakes apart on my '83 GTi today to change the disks. They've been upgraded by a previous owner, and I'm trying to identify the setup they've used. It has 256mm disks, 20mm thick, the calipers appear to be original (56mm piston), the hubs appear to be original with 76mm spaced caliper mounti...

Re: 1982 "FrankenRoc"

Been having to use this for work the last 3 weeks, and racked up the miles, 1450 since the start of August. Finally let me down this morning, alternator belt snapped :( Not a hard fix, but complicated by being on the side of the road at the time. Still, buses to autofactor, and changing the belt on ...

Re: 1982 "FrankenRoc"

Still drums on the back, and original MC. Don't worry though, that'll all change soon enough ;)

Re: 1982 "FrankenRoc"

So I just went to replace the discs and pads, only to discover that this has 256mm setup and braided lines :)

This car really is the gift that keeps on giving!

Re: 1982 "FrankenRoc"

7 days off work, so might find some time to do a few more bits. Had to use the car for work for the last 3 weeks, doing 100 miles a day. Covered 1450 miles since I got it now, and it's starting to show a little love is needed! 7000 miles from 1992 to July 2015, so this old girl isn't used to the abu...

Re: 1982 "FrankenRoc"

As ready as I can be. Most people wouldn't drive a car in this state to the garage, nevermind a 160 mile round trip to a show! It's a rolling shed, but it might just make it! Loads of little niggles, rattles, and seeping leaks, but we'll carry on regardless. Lost my support car now. My girlfriend ha...

The spindle is worn, almost completely smooth! Temp fixed with spray glue and tightening it up really tight! ;)

Re: would it work?

With my old Volvo C70 I've been thinking about adding a motor, but my though was why not stick it on the rear axle? Using a V70 4wd rear setup, and mounting the motor onto the rear diff. More of a thought experiment at this point. Switching between the two, or using them concurrently would require s...
