RHD ROCCO offside steering gaiter

Hi All,
Haven`t been around for a while--got Covid b4 it became popular--pre March lockdown and have been fighting Long Covid since then.
After having Rocco`s for over 20+ years, I thought I had solved all problems. BUT inspecting my wife`s 89 Scala before MOT, I found the gaiter on the offside ...

Re: Mk2 Scirocco Brake Cables

Fitted the bolt on clamps--10mins each side and not the couple of hours struggling to fit the OE type. Dead easy to fit --all you need is a pair of mole grips to pull the ends initially together before fitting one bolt loosly--remove moles and fit second bolt--tighten up SIMPLES!!!

Re: Mk2 Scirocco Brake Cables

Hi, I have drums and not discs. The "standard" cable supplied is circa 1700mm and they do not fit under our Rocco. The nearside is short on the outer between the guide tubes and the backplate. On the offside they are not long enough to get around the fuel pump/accumulator. Most are listed as Golf ...

Re: Mk2 Scirocco Brake Cables

Hi regarding cables, Mine are 1765mm long and the standard MK1 Golf are circa 1700mm. I checked around and found that the 1765 cables are QH ones. I also checked the outer length of the QH ones and found they matched the 2 cables i pulled off my (wife`s) Rocco exactly. The ones I was supplied with ...

Re: dipstick keeps blowing out

Hi all, The best way to clean out the gauze in the rocker is to soak it in petrol and set light to it--marvelous how much crap comes out after the flames are gone. Found this out when I had a slipping clutch caused by oil getting past crankshaft seal and getting on clutch. Burnt out the gauze filter ...

Re: Cruise control.

Cheers Joost,
been wanting to take Power assistance to a lower value at speed to give more feel. If you have assistance for parking then it is too much for normal driving as I like a heavier feel at speed especially when giving the car an italian tune up service as I do on a regular basis in my Gold ...

Re: Cruise control.

I wonder if that could be used on the PAS system to lower the assistance at speed--need to dig my scope out and have a gander at the signal to see if it will be usefull (40+ years as an electronics engineer may become handy) Been mulling this over for a while to decrease PAS as speed increases to ...

Re: Bad start to the weekend...

HI David,
I probably have lamp and indicator as I recently scrapped our J reg one and salvaged everthing I could.
The reinforced behind the bumper is a pig to get off the cover but would need to be separated to straighten out and rubberised cover placed back on. I cant help you with a bumper as I ...

Re: Cruise control.

Hi all,
I didn`t know that `roccos ever came with cruise control and I have had them for 22 years--I know that the Haynes manual shows some reference to it in the wiring diagram but I don`t know how it works as there are no speed sensors fitted to the hubs. It would be usefull to add to the electric ...

Re: fuel problems with breather

Hi all,
Thanks for the replies, I have had all the pipes off and shoved an air line up all the pipes to check for blockages also fitted a replacement valve salvaged from the scrapped rocco. I have also checked the pipe runs to make sure they are not kinked. Haven`t found anything definite that would ...

Hi all,
Just an update--car alarm working well--pissed the MOT examiner off!!Car went through even though the MOT is tougher this year after cv boots all changed--originals had to be cut off and messy job to clean out 29yr old grease. When the weather isnt quite so hot will be pulling out the ...

Re: fuel problems with breather

Just to add a comment the MOT examiner said that the car would stall and be a pig to start when he tested it,but at the time I thought that he was pissed off with setting the alarm off and the immobiliser was kicking in--never had any problems before MOT day.By the way it passed!!!!

fuel problems with breather

Hi all,
During this hot weather I am having trouble with the car cutting out/electric fuel pump going nuts. I have found that the tank is not venting properly.
When I take the fuel cap off I get a sudden inrush of air and the car will start and run properly.Obviously the tank is not venting properly ...
